Bob Marley是牙買加的雷鬼歌手，生於1945, 死於1981。父親是白人船長，母親是當地黑人，因此，Bob Marley面臨許多種族問題，特別在1960年代。
他的的音樂生涯，可分成兩個部分，1963-1974年間，Bob Marley和一群好朋友組成"The Wailers"，不過到了1973年，成員只剩三個，分別是Bob Marley, Bunny Livingston, Peter Mcintoch，同年，他們發行第一張專輯"Catch The Fire"，可惜在1974年時，三人因為想單飛，且對音樂理念不同而解散。
之後，Bob Marley單飛，並由一個新的"The Wailers"做為他的團員還有合聲，分別有Aston "Family Man" Barrett、Carlton Barrett(鼓手、貝司手),Junior Marvin (吉他), Al Anderson (吉他), Tyrone Downie (鍵盤手), Earl "Wya" Lindo (鍵盤手) and Alvin "Seeco" Patterson (打擊樂器). 合聲團則是 "The I Threes", 包括Marley的太太 Rita, Judy Mowatt和 Marcia Griffiths。
第二時期的音樂生涯，Bob Marley從牙買加本土歌手，登上世界舞台，在1975年，他的第一張全世界專輯"Natty Dread"中的"No Woman No Cry"打響了他的名號，之後，他便常有政治性的演唱會舉行，或者推廣種族和平的演唱會。
1981年，Bob Marley因為腦癌死於邁阿密。
有關Bob Marley的作品，我只有一張" Legend"，裡面選了多首Bob Marley的經典名作，譬如"No Woman No Cry", " I Shot The Sheriff"等等。這張專輯中的"No Woman No Cry"，是在Roxy Hall現場演唱的版本，我很喜歡前奏，對於他的詮釋方法，我也很欣賞，有點斷斷續續，很有節奏感！
